The Actuarial Director identifies, evaluates and responds to financial risks inherent in the determination of Medicaid IBNR/IBNP on a monthly basis.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Prepares and interprets data and related formulae for reserving and forecasting.
Computes reserves on a monthly basis for several states but is also responsible for the total reserves for an entire region. This includes understanding, reporting and verbally communicating results to senior finance and senior actuarial associates.
Develops and maintains good relationships with the Medicaid Health Plans in their region so that we receive the necessary information that will impact reserve levels, and get the information from them to make these adjustments.
Reviews U&I Exhibits on a quarterly basis.
Acts as an appointed actuary to sign Actuarial Opinions and develop Memorandums on an annual basis.
Serves on major, multi-function projects as Actuarial representative for MCD Valuation or other expertise if available.
Organizes and directs the staffing and work flow of the assigned Medicaid region.
We currently have 3 regions and products in 25 states.
Requires a BS/BA degree; FSA required from the Society of Actuaries (SOA); at least 6 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
