Enterprise Architect Principal develops enterprise architecture models and strategies that organize and rationalize Anthem systems and information assets in order to ensure business and IT alignment. Deliverables include architecture strategy assessments, recommendations, operational business architecture, blueprints and roadmaps, reference architectures, and technology assessments. Also provides solution architecture guidance to business and IT partners and participates in architecture governance activities. Provides leadership to a team of highly technical architects.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
Collaborating with Portfolio Management to provide a high-level, all-inclusive vision of enterprise solutions and development initiatives
Defining key technical initiatives that support budgets
Participating in the strategy for building and maintaining the architectural runway
Develops and maintains an architectural blueprint and evolutionary roadmap that defines and communicates the strategic direction for these architectures in support of business and technical strategies.
Recommends solutions and/or new technologies based upon business value drivers, proven architecture principles, patterns and return on investment.
Defines the architectures required to implement large complex cross-functional projects.
Understanding and communicating strategic themes, and other key business drivers for architecture, to System and Solution Architects and nontechnical stakeholders
Works with business units to translate business strategy into discrete capabilities and helps to identify technology capability gaps in systems.
Establishes overall systems architecture vision and ensures specific components are appropriately designed and leveraged; drives the holistic vision of Enterprise Architecture.
Driving architectural initiatives in the Portfolio backlog system and participating in epic and story analysis where applicable
Influencing common modeling, design, and coding practices
Collaborates with IT delivery teams to ensure that the construction of architecture components (e.g. domain architecture, solution architecture and technical architecture) aligns with architecture strategies.
Defines architecture reference documentation and helps to enforce standards.
Promoting Continuous Delivery and DevOps capabilities
Collecting generating, and analyzing innovative ideas and technologies to use across the business
Anticipates areas where architecture standards may need to be developed that are in-line with customer, IT and industry standards.
Facilitating the reuse of code, components, and proven patterns
Synchronizing the following disciplines across Solutions whenever applicable:
System and data security and quality
Scalability, performance, and other Nonfunctional Requirements (NFRs)
Explains how the roadmap maintains and delivers cost effectiveness, business value, and competitiveness.
Develops innovative technology approaches to solve business problems and is usually sought out as an expert in this field.
Participates in architecture governance processes and community of practice
Experience presenting to an executive audience
10 + years of experience in architecture/design in relevant technology disciplines in the Healthcare field
5 + years of experience leading a development team and providing strategic direction
Knowledge of healthcare or healthcare systems a plus
Extremely strong written, verbal and intrapersonal skills
Strong communication/documentation skills required and ability to work at many different levels throughout the organization.
Experience investigating new technologies, authoring white papers and delivering presentations to senior leadership
MS/MA degree preferred
12 years of experience in information technologies preferred
Cross-functional knowledge (e.g., strategy, change management, business process management
5+ Years of experience working with data warehouses and data marts
3-5 Years with Hadoop and building data pipelines including streaming data
3-5 Years of Service Orientated Architecture experience
3-5 Exploratory Data Discovery/Scientist, or working closely with Data Science teams
