The Project Manager Sr. is responsible for managing multiple projects of varying sizes and duration including large projects from a global perspective that incorporates both the business and technical aspects of the project.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Applying project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project deliverables, processes, and systems. In addition to all responsibilities of a project manager this position coaches and mentors project team members; mentors other project managers; determines project scope; develops resource, risk, quality, cost, and scope management plans; develops training plans; develops requirements documents; develops project approval matrix; identifies project team training and tool needs; defines, recommends and secures contractual agreements for services and products; coordinates requirements, schedules implementation and post-implement plans, and develops service-level agreements for vendor partners and global resources firms; defines quality gates for each project methodology phase; defines critical success factors; and establishes and manages the project warranty period as assigned.
Over the course of given project, the Project Manager will need to communicate with staff and clients, make decisions and monitor the progress of the project to keep them on schedule. The Project Manager will support the leaders of either state direct contracts or health plan contracts. Important responsibilities for a Project Manager include:
Creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
Delegating tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them
Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project
Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy
Communicating with executives or the board to keep the project aligned with their goals
Performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected
Adjusting schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change
Requires a BA/BS in a related field; Minimum of 5 years professional project management experience required during which at least 3 years are spent leading and directing project tasks, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Additional Skill Set:
The Health Plan/MBHP Project Manager must be a multi-faceted individual who can lead workgroups, develop and manage project plans, initiative and foster relationships across disciplines and teams, and generate and analyze data. The Health Plan/MBHP Project Manager ensures all assigned projects and tasks are completed on time and in scope. The Project Manager’s activities will be primarily internal but may also include some external activities and assignments

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
Three- or four more-years PM experience
Knowledge of related project management tools
Demonstrated ability solve business issues by working cross-functionally in a matrixed organization.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information and data into presentations for general business audiences.
Knowledge of behavioral health, managed care and/or government health insurance programs.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
