Actuarial Analyst II (Pricing)

Preferred Locations: Atlanta, GA; Indianapolis, IN; Richmond, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; Louisville, KY; St. Louis, MO; Waukesha, WI; Mason, OH

The Actuarial Analyst II will be a part of the Group Retiree Solutions (GRS) actuarial pricing team. This is an individual contributor role; the actuary will be expected to support analyses necessary to develop competitive pricing quotes and long term projections, and prepare key assumptions, such as medical and pharmacy claims trends and risk adjustment. In this role, the actuarial analyst will work closely with the rest of the pricing team and the GRS actuarial manager.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Obtains, verifies, analyzes and models data including risk reporting and forecasting.

  • Calculates monthly claims liability reserves, develops merit rating factors and prepares Department of Insurance annual statement exhibits.

The ideal candidate is expected to have:

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Ability to work well with team members and collaborate on various projects.

  • Ability to develop relationships within/outside of the Department.

  • Outstanding verbal/written communications, presentation, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, multitasking, working independently. Medicare and/or healthcare experience is a plus.


  • Requires a BS/BA degree; required to have passed at least three Society of Actuaries (SOA) actuarial exams; at least 1 year related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
