Underwriting Policy Director (Student College Business Segment) - Costa Mesa,CA (location preferred) - PS11081

Summary: This position would be responsible for overseeing Student Business underwriting based on eligible institutions - Four Year Colleges and Universities, Graduate student and advanced degree programs (Medical, Law etc). Student plans can be fully insured and ASO.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishes business practices and guidelines for the development of premium rates for in-force and prospective customers.

  • Responsible for the development of underwriting policy for Large Group business units within a state and segment.

  • Collaborates with Large Group Underwriting Directors to identify business needs and develop policies.

  • Acts as a liaison partnering with Underwriting senior staff to integrate enterprise-wide initiatives with local objectives.

  • Responsible for the underwriting phase of the new product development cycle.

  • Creates guidelines and work flow processes for the information technology infrastructure in support of underwriting end users.

  • Responsible for program content development, implementation, and evaluation of an internal underwriting recruitment and training curriculum.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a BA/BS in a related field; minimum 7 years of experience related to large group underwriting with exposure to medical, dental, life and disability products, and the full array of funding options; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • MBA strongly preferred.

  • Must have experience in underwriting with specific focus in student business.

  • CCLU preferred.

  • Success in reducing operation costs required.
