Advanced Analytics Analyst / Sr. - Data Science
Location: Chicago IL, or Atlanta GA

Data Science Team is seeking an experienced Advanced Analytics Analyst Senior to join our growing team. Our team employs advanced analytics/machine learning/artificial intelligence/big data solution to provide analytical solution to help business solve their challenging problems from various application areas including program integrity, member management, provider management, pricing, and others. We partner with various business analytics team to work closely with business to build out the analytical solution, and also collaborate with IT to implement the analytical solution in production and integrate it to the business process. We also plan strategically to bring state-of-the-art analytical capabilities into our solutions, and build proof-of-concept to prove and validate the business value.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Work closely with data scientists to prepare the datasets that are required for modeling;
Perform statistical analysis to provide insights for business problems to help understand the business impact, the scope, and/or feasibility;
Source different data sources that reside on different database systems such as Teradata, SQL server, Oracle, and others into our model development environment on Hadoop cluster;
Addresses limitation of certain data sources and evaluates incremental value of new data sources;
Build data/feature libraries for different application areas that can serve as the standard input for all models in a given application areas by collaborating with data engineers;
Serve as data and domain SME to support data scientists for model development;
Learn and perform research on new data sources, both internal and external, to support model development.
Requires Graduate-level degree with concentration in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Epidemiology, Engineering, Computer Science or Operations Research or related Quantitative disciplines. 1-3 or more years’ experience in related health care analytics; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Extensive and in-depth knowledge about Anthem data including claims data is plus.
Substantial analytical experience in healthcare industry.
Experience working with distributed computing environment such as Hadoop.
Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of using with Hive, Impala or Apache Spark.
Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of data extraction and manipulation using SQL.
Experience in identifying healthcare fraud, waste and abuse is preferred.
