Title: Business Info Consultant Location: Work at home but must reside within 40 miles of an Anthem office Status: Full-time, 40 hours a week

The Business Info Developer Consultant is responsible for developing and executing more complex queries and provider data mining analyses.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Determines how decision support systems will provide the data required to make effective business decisions.

  • Performs modeling of information sources and flows.

  • May coordinate the activities of a project team and monitors project schedules and costs for own projects.

  • Develops strategic report applications from the Data Warehouse.

  • Establishes and maintains excellent knowledge of data warehouse database design, data definitions, system capabilities, programming languages, and data integrity issues.

  • Develops and supports complex data warehouse-related applications for business areas requiring design and implementation of database tables.

  • Conducts training on use of applications developed.


  • Requires a BS/BA degree; 4-6 year experience or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Build and run complex queries against the EDWard data warehouse to pull medical (facility and professional), pharmacy, dental, vision claims and provider data using Teradata SQL Assistant and SAS.

  • Solid working knowledge and subject matter expertise with EDWard (production & archive) and ODW (tables, views, etc.).

  • Proficient knowledge of SQL/Web Servers, SQL fundamentals, SQL Advanced querying, and Teradata SQL assistant required.

  • Ability to perform QAQC of SQL and SAS scripts required.

  • Experience in SAS EG, Java scripting, Python and other programming query languages.

  • Experience with Cloud, Snowflake and ETL processes required.

  • Working knowledge of Hadoop, GBD Facets, WGS, Nasco, FEP and other sources preferred.

  • Proficient in Access and Excel including pivot tables required.

  • Ability to manipulate large volume of data efficiently required.

  • Proficient in completing complex data mining functions, statistical sampling (RatsStats), statistical analysis of data, metrics and identification of aberrancies, and outliers.

  • Proficient in conducting data research, analysis, identification of issues, UAT testing, and data issue resolution process.

  • Proficient in Project Management using Agile methodology, JIRA and Confluence required.

  • Ability to mentor other developers within the team and sharing best practices from coding perspective.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication and independent problem solving skills required.

  • Healthcare and claims processing knowledge and expertise preferred.

  • Effective communication skill with multiple levels of the organization.
